Abstract
H-10 NORTH SEA SHALLOW GAS AS A NATURAL ANALOGUE IN FEASIBILITY STUDIES ON CO2 SEQUESTRATION BARTHOLD M. SCHROOT Summary 1 North Sea seismic data and high frequency acoustic data have been studied with the aim of making a better characterisation of surface and subsurface expressions that are associated with the presence of shallow gas. Improved characterisation of such features results in better insight into the mechanisms of gas migration and leakage in the near surface environment. A hypothesis is proposed for the classification of gas chimneys in two classes based on their seismic expression. The gas chimney we have found
