Focusingoperatorsareverysuitableforvelocitymodel estimation because they represent one way traveltimes from reflection points to many surface locations which can be easily inverted to obtain the velocity model. For the inversion of focusing operators we developed a flexible non-laborious velocity estimation method that does not constrain the solution and is applicable to 3D problems. The method is based on tomographic inversion in which an irregular parameterization
