Abstract

Schemes for the migration of seismic data require accurate velocity macro models. The seismic validation of the macro model occurs via error analyses, and is based mainly on geophysical constraints. The subsequent proces updates the macro model which is not tested against geological knowledge. Ideally, geological and geophysical criteria should be integrated in the updating proces to converge to the final macro model. The description and handling methodology of such a general macro model is not yet available. In this paper, we distinguish a) the definition of the initial macro model, and b) the macro model updating, which will strongly interact withseismic and geologie validation methods.
