Abstract

The Faeroe-Rockall area is characterized by late Paleocene plateau basalts. An open net of seismic reflection profiles covering the Plateau was acquïred before - 1980. On these profiles the plateau basalt act mostly as an acoustic basement. However blockfaulting, erosional unconformities and rift basins have been identified below the parallel layered late Paleocene plateau basalt which cover most of the Faeroe- Rockall Plateau. These structures are seen on newer reflection seismic data and older reprocessed multichannel seismic data.
