Abstract

The Celtic Sea region encompasses a series of basins and sub-basins lying off the south toast of Ireland. The North Celtic Sea Basin is separated from the Palaeozoic metasediments of the Irish Massif by a series of normal faults. The basin complex initiated during the Triassic by rifting which preceded the opening of the North Atlantic Ocean.
