Abstract

Summary

The east of Iran is considered one of the most active geological areas and always interesting for researchers. The area is including Kopet Dagh in the North East of Iran, Dasht-e Lut in Central-East- and Makran in the South East of Iran. In this study we determine the thickness of the lithosphere and the temperature distribution in two-dimension. This method has a good accuracy and compatibility with many geological phenomena and comparing with other methods is faster and has the ability to study a large area in the same time. The profile of this study starting from Makran and ending in Turan platform. The thickening of the crust and lithosphere in the region of Kopeh Dagh and the Sistan Heights are clearly shown. A thin crust and lithosphere is shown in Makran and Lut and also, there is an obvious subduction underneath the Makran zone.
