Abstract
Summary
Regularities of lithofacial variation of Oligocene-Miocene sediments in south-east Gobustan were studied on the base of over 130 rock samples collected from 6 natural outcrops. To reveal areal trends in lithological composition and reservoir parameters of the strata under study a series of schematic maps were made. The conducted studies suggest that good reservoir properties are preserved by Maykop and Chokrak sediments in nearshore area of the south-east Gobustan. With respect to lithofacies conditions the most favourable settings of oil and gas accumulation within the Oligocene-Miocene deposits are believed to exist in the north-west part of anticlinal zones of Touragai-Xere-Zire deniz and Alyat-deniz-Umid.
