Abstract

Surface seismic-derived inversion and curvature attribute volumes have been correlated with mapped microseismic hypocenters from hydraulic stimulations to observe characteristics of fractured rock for predictive purposes. Microseisms correlate to positive 3D curvature shapes like domes, ridges, and saddles. Further, mapped microseisms correlate to low P- and S-impedance values. Lamé parameters were used to evaluate the extent of the induced fractures to gas-bearing formations.
