Abstract

Summary

Recent well results on the southern West Greenland margin showed a lack of sandy reservoir sections in the Palaeocene - Eocene interval. Hence, better methods to delineate reservoir prone intervals in the Palaeocene — Eocene section are vital to develop a successful exploration model for the West Greenland Margin. Regional mapping has shown that two unconformities developed during the Eocene, an Early Eocene which is semiregional and a Mid Eocene unconformity which is regional and both important in the development of sedimentary systems.

This study uses new well data, 2D seismic data and 3D seismic data sets in combination with multi-attribute analysis on 3D seismic data sets, which has led to a better understanding of the structural settings and the mechanisms which control the distribution of sand prone areas, their depositional environment and facies within the southern West Greenland margin.
