Abstract
Summary
Mesozoic carbonates deposited along the Central Atlantic Margin are important, if challenging, exploration targets. These Middle to Upper Jurassic carbonates have demonstrated reservoir potential, but the key to reduce risk and improve success rates is to better understand facies distribution and evolution of the system and later diagenetic controls on reservoir development. Success to-date has been mixed, with a number of noncommercial discoveries, such as Cap Juby in the Tarfaya Basin, southern Morocco and one significant producing field, the Panuke gas field in Nova Scotia, Canada.
