Abstract

Powerful efforts have been made all over the world to locate new hydrocarbon deposits and to increase the efficiency of the drilling activity for hydrocarbon investigation. The development of new concepts, new technologies and sophisticated methods became necessary to investigate efficiently and successfully the hidden traps, determining hydrocarbon deposits of non-anticline type. In Hungary experiments have been performed to delineate hydrocarbon deposits of such type for a decade. In CH deposits the pore space of the reservoir rocks is filled by high resistivity oil or gas, instead of low resistivity brine. Thus, in principle, the deposits should directly be detectable by resistivity measurements. In practice, however, the high resistivity layer can not be seen on the sounding curves because of its small thickness compared with its depth.
