Abstract
A joint expedition comprising the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, Norsk Hydro, Saga Petroleum a.s, Statoil and University of Oslo, visited Kong Karls Land in 1992, with the purpose of making a detailed study of the geological section in the light of new data from the Barents Sea and Svalbard. In addition, a reference data base of geological samples was collected and stored at the NPD. The most recent and comprehensive investigation in the area to date is published by Smith et al., 1976.
