f Structural domains in the Møre Basin, Norway - From digital images of aeromagnetic data

Digital image processing of 1x1 and 2x2 km aeromagnetic grids in the Møre Basin permits definition of the basin's main structural domains and provides the basis for interpretation of the main structural elements. The method consists of: 1) adaptive filtering, which enhances local variations in the raw data, 2) first derivative filtering in four different directions (45 ° apart), 3) principal component analysis of the filtered grids and 4) the production of 3-channel false colour displays of selected combinations of the filtered grids.
