Abstract

A 3-D seismic data set from West Texas is used to test the Quasi-Monte Carlo prestack migration (QM) and regular prestack migration (RM) methods; both methods use the Kirchhoff integral except the QM method applies this integral to a quasi- Monte Carlo distribution of traces. Because the field data are sparsely sampled on the regular grid points, a seismic trace interpolation technique is used to interpolate the seismic traces to the Quasi-Monte Carlo sampling positions.
