Abstract

By of a variety of causes, it's often not possible to sample the seismic wavefield on a regular grid. One can think of obstacles, feathering in marine seismics, dead and noisy traces. The problem of irregular sampling lies in the fact that conventional seismic applications, such as the removal of surface related multiples, migration, etc., require the data to be sampled regularly. Unless the irregular sampling is hyandledproperly errors will result. One-dimensional reconstruction has been addressed by Duijndam et al.(1995). The aim of this paper is to introduce an efficient method to resample the 2D irregularly sampled data on a regular grid. The method can be applied in various subdomains of 3D surface seismic data as well as in 3D VSP.
