Abstract

Deliberate search for hydrocarbon reserves in Hungary has been going on for more than 80 years. The Pannonian Basin is now a mature exploration area and hydrocarbon production has undergone a slow but steady decrease in the past decade. The only way to keep exploration prosperous and effective is to make further progress in understanding the evolution of the basin and its orogenic substrata. The aim of this talk is to review and evaluate different hydrocarbon play concepts with a new view on the Pannonian Basin as a result of progress in the framework of the IBS project.
