Abstract

Modern cost- effective marine surface prospecting methods were performed in the Broad Fourteens Basin of the Dutch North Sea sector to detect additional HC potential in the vicinity of proven hydrocarbon accumulations in blocks R18/L16 operated by Conoco. Lower Cretaceous Vlieland Sandstones at around 2000m depth are the prolific producers in this area. Principal objectives of the investigations were to assess the lateral extent of effective HC-migration as well as to identify a prospect carrying the lowest geological risk.
