f Overpressuring and hydrocarbon trapping in the chalk of the Norwegian Central Graben

As part of an integrated, semi-regional exploration study of the Chalk of the Greater Ekofisk area a regional understanding of the hydrodynamic system in the Chalk and its effect on pore pressure distribution has been developed. Major oil and gas accumulations have been found in Chalk structures of the Greater Ekofisk area and, today, Exploration is oriented towards subtle stratigraphic traps outside the field limits.
