Abstract

Deep marine Cretaceous sandstones in the Norwegian Sea were deposited by a number of sediment feeder systems from different sediment source terrains. Three distinct sandstone types (K1, K2 and K3) have been identified and mapped from a variety of heavy mineral parameters (Figures 1 and 2). Sandstone type K1 is found along the eastern margin of the Norwegian Sea but does not appear to be present in the deeper water Vøring Basin.
