Abstract
After 12 years of deep-seismic reflection profiling of the Variscan Mountain Belt in Germany the DEKORP program (German Continental Seismic Reflection Program) was re-activated in 1994 with new concepts and strategies, operated by the GeoForschungsZentrum at Potsdam (founded in 1992), and funded by the Bundesminsterium fur Bildung, Wissenschaft, Forschung and Technologie (BMBF), Bonn. Among the highlights of the DEKORP2000 project are modelling of processes and evolution of orogenic belts and hydrocarbon-bearing basins, investigating targets of geoscientific interest worldwide, international cooperation, multidisciplinary approaches and integrating industrial interests.
