For several decades, airgun sources have been dominating the marine seismic acquisition market. Surprisingly few new source, concepts have been presented to the industry during this period. During the e ighties, however, developments related to marine vibrator sources took place. These sources were tested mainly for deep marine seismic purposes. The application of these sources have since been limited, due to factors like high cost, handling and operational difficulties, etc.
