P177 Velocity model building in highly heterogeneous media - Norwegian North Sea Summary 1 In the TuneB area imaging at Jurassic level is influenced by high lateral velocity variations in the shallow section that are caused by shale diapirs and small high-velocity cemented layers that are embedded in a Paleogene section. We analyse synthetic and real data to understand the artefacts introduced at target level by the shallow localized high velocity anomalies and investigate benefits and draw-backs of interpretative and automated/gridded model building techniques.
