The flanks of salt domes form the most prolific traps for oil accumulations in the Lower Saxony Basin, Germany. Most oil fields are supposed to be discovered and are currently in the, final stage of production. New developments in exploration geophysics like prestack depth migration integrating the efforts of processing and interpretation may lead to a re-evaluation of existing oil fields or might even identify new potential.
