f Basement of Paleogene Depressions of the South-Eastern Slopes of the Bohemian Massif

Nesvacilka and Vranovice linear depressions of the south-eastern slopes of the Bohemian Massif (Czech Republic) were observed for the first time in the 1960's. The erosion affected Mesozoic and Paleozoic sequences, locally - in the deepest parts - the erosion reached even the crystalline basement. The originally tectonic structuren were subsequently filled by a thick - up to 1,500 m - section of Paleogene formations. The axes of sub-parallel depressions are perpendicular to the strike of the slope of the Bohemian Massif which planges to the southeast beneath the frontal units of the Carpathians.
