Abstract
P034 VARIOGRAM-ANALYSIS IN GEOMAGNETIC PROSPECTION OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES Summary 1 In this work a processing procedure is presented for the reclassification of geomagnetic maps. A goal of this processing approach is the automatic identification of settlement areas which are characterized by diffuse small-scale anomaly patterns rather than by clearly recognizable building remainders. A qualitative correlation exists between the ’intensity’ and irregularity of the magnetic pattern and the shard frequency in the ground. The magnetic pattern is classified by applying spatial variogram analysis. Introduction The data acquisition speed in archaeogeophysics has rapidly increased during the last years. Systems have been developed
