Abstract
G-43 ALFORDROTATIONAFTERTENSORMIGRATION J.DELLINGER S. BRANDSBERG-DAHL R. CLARKE and L. THOMSEN BPEPTG 200 Westlake Park Blvd Houston Texas 77079 Summary Azimuthalanisotropyshouldcauseshear-wavesplittinginmarineC-wavedata justasitdoesin traditional land S-wave data. If split C-waves are migrated with an azimuthally isotropic velocity model the “fast” and “slow” components will focus at different depths resulting in a degraded image. One solution is to decompose the radial data into its “fast” and “slow” components and then migrate the two datasets separately. We show that the same result can also be achieved by performing a tensor migration of the horizontal vector data (not just the radial component) producinga2 2-componentimagematrix.
