Abstract
D-04 DETAILED LOW-FREQUENCY MODELING FOR IMPROVED ACOUSTIC IMPEDANCE INVERSION AT EKOFISK Abstract 1 3D seismic data is valuable for mapping chalk reservoir layers and faults at Ekofisk field. Seismic character also qualitatively correlates to high-porosity chalk reservoir. Detailed seismic interpretation is difficult within the thick blocky high-porosity chalk reservoir layers since there is very little acoustic impedance contrast resulting in weak seismic amplitudes and variable reflector continuity. Inversion of 3D seismic reflection data for acoustic impedance improves seismic mappability in chalk since there inversion produces a layer-based value rather than the interface constrast of the reflection seismic. The impedance data
