Abstract

Dense sampling of stacking velocities is required for a detailed stack image. Manual stacking velocity analysis is routinely performed every 500 m inline and crossline. Therefore lateral changes in stacking velocities on a smaller scale cannot be detected. I will show in this paper that the 3D stack images are improved in detail when using densely sampled automatically picked stacking velocities that have been robustly interpolated and smoothed in 3D.
