Abstract

P046 LOCAL TWO-WAY TRAVELTIME APPROXIMA- TIONS IN 3-D MEDIA Abstract 1 Second-order traveltime approximations offer a possibility to reduce significantly the required memory to store traveltimes and other Green’s function parameters that are necessary for 3-D imaging and illumination methods. Prestack imaging has been so far the main focus of this development but newer imaging and illumination methods require better strategies to calculate the traveltime derivatives for the approximations. Such strategies typically depend on the type of application. For the Local Imaging approach and the Simulated Migration Amplitude approach wavefront construction is performed with two sets of dynamic ray tracing
