Abstract

Recent dual-sensor streamer results from Cyprus (Semb, 2009) and Australia (Cambois, 2009) show images with stronger energy and improved S/N in the deeper part of the seismic sections. To investigate whether the dual-sensor cable with a more powerful airgun source could improve the signal penetration through the LES in the Red Sea, two conventional streamer strike lines were selected to be reacquired. To facilitate the data comparison between the conventional streamer data and the dual-sensor streamer data, after preprocessing, the dual-sensor data was put through the same processing workflow that proved effective on the conventional marine data. This paper will compare the conventional streamer data with the dual-sensor data, to see if the results show as much improvement as those seen in other areas.
