Abstract

This study aims on an optimized imaging of complex salt roller structures located in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Three depth migrated images were available to generate an improved model of the salt body by adapting ray-tracing derived synthetic traveltime curves to the corresponding reflections of the field data. The final depth model suggests that the salt roller geometry is constraint by the sub-salt topography. An illumination study contributes to the understanding of the difficulties in imaging parts of top and base of the salt body.
