Abstract

The combined production of sand and gravel is the most economically important industrial<br>mineral resource in Mississippi. In central Mississippi, including the Jackson metropolitan area, most<br>gravel used in construction projects comes from pre-loess (Pleistocene) terrace deposits of the ancestral<br>Mississippi River.
