On the Spectral Analysis of Rayleigh Waves for the Shear Wave Velocity Evaluation in the Shallow Section

Main aspects of the phase velocity evaluation method of the Rayleigh waves are presented. It is shown that the results of the phase velocity analysis can be improved if it is used information from the 2D power spectrum of the considered Rayleigh events. The method is illustrated by synthetic examples and then it is applied on real data to obtain the distribution of shear wave velocities with depth in the shallow section.
