Micro Focus Computed Tomography in Geotechnical and Geophysical Research

Several aspects pertaining to CT scanning methods and possibilities for geological material characterization and their quantification both before and after geomechanical testing are presented. Advanced experiments are performed combining rock mechanical testing and CT scanning, which allows simultaneous geomechanical measurements (i.e. elastic properties and acoustic measurements) and direct visualization of internal structures changes in the space-time domain, under realistic conditions.
