Abstract

A practical challenge to methods aimed at enhancing the subsurface response is the requirement for measurement accuracy. We here discuss a robust frequency differencing technique for enhancing the subsurface response and apply it to the anisotropic inversion of a 3D controlled source EM dataset acquired in shallow water offshore Malaysia with only 90m of water depth. The anisotropic 3D resistivity models obtained by the Inversion show a clear, bounded vertical resistivity anomaly at the seismic interpreted prospect location. The results demonstrate that the present acquisition technology provides sufficiently high signal-to-noise ratio for utilizing the frequency differenced field.
