Abstract

P516 SEISMIC PRE-DRILL PORE PRESSURE IMAGING USING A DEEPWATER ROCK MODEL Abstract 1 Deepwater drilling is expensive and can be risky if it is not well prepared. Proper well planning requires reliable estimates of the expected pore fluid pressure and formation strength prior to drilling. Such pressure predictions are based on integrated seismic and offset well data. A new rock model-based approach especially suited for deepwater pore pressure imaging is introduced here and applied in an example of a deepwater Gulf of Mexico well. P- and S- velocities were determined both at an offset well and for the future drilling
