Abstract

We present a gamma-spectrometric profile carried out on gold-bearing quartz veins in Poconé region, Western Brazil. Along mineralized zones, uranium and potassium elements are added by hydrothermal percolating solutions in a sufficient quantity to be detected by surface gamma ray spectrometric measurements. Extension of mineralized pits are clearly identified by an 800 meters gamma ray profile crossing a known gold deposit covered by almost 3 m thick soil and lateritic layer.
