Abstract

The talc exploration in the state of Parana has been carried out under poor geological bases. To overcome partly this problem, a research project was developed as a cooperative project between DNPM and MINEROPAR. The contribution of different exploration techniques was assessed so as to orient future talc exploration programs. We report here, for the first time, the results of the geophysical study. Among other findings, magnetics and radiometrics are found to be important tools for geological and structural mapping, while resistivity profiling characterizes the lateral variation due to fault and shear zones with which the main mineralization is associated.
