Abstract
Magnetotelluric method (MT) offers the opportunity to characterize deep reservoirs, in particular deep saline aquifers for CO2 storage. In order to improve the results obtained with this method, a new algorithm to analyze electromagnetic time-series has been developed. It enables the identification of noisy data as well as their sources, taking into account the polarization attributes of the registered signal in the timefrequency domain. Several simulations and a real case with a controlled source in Hontomín site (the Research Laboratory on Geological Storage of CO2 in Spain) show the successful of this new technique.
