Abstract
H-27 PO VALLEY OIL PLAY - FROM THE VILLAFORTUNA-TRECATE FIELD TO SOUTH- ALPINE AND NORTHERN APENNINE EXPLORATION ABSTRACT 1 In the western Po Valley at a great depth (more than 5 000 meters) few gas and condensate fields are present in alpine compressional structures (Malossa type) while oil fields characterise Mesozoic extensional structures (Villafortuna-Trecate type); both these petroleum systems consist of Triassic dolomitic reservoir and source rocks. These plays were successfully investigated in the South-Alpine foreland areas during the last decades and can now be explored in the external parts of the Northern Apennines and South-Alpine chain. In these areas
