Olofsson 4 1) Schlumberger Cambridge Research High Cross Madingley Road Cambridge CB3 0EL U.K 2) BP Sunbury U.K. 3) WesternGeco Asker Norway 4) WesternGeco Gatwick U.K. Abstract We present a method to estimate the near-surface S-velocity and converted-wave static corrections for multicomponent ocean bottom seismic (OBS) surveys using Scholte waves. The method is applied to a 3D 4C OBS survey over the Valhall field. In addition we show that Scholte waves can be used to detect shallow azimuthal anisotropy.
