Abstract
P001 PZ SUMMATION – A CONTRACTOR EVALUATION MARK THOMPSON and LASSE AMUNDSEN Summary PZ summation at the sea floor refers to combining hydrophone (P) recordings with vertical geophone (Z) recordings in such proportions that waves arriving from above are eliminated whereas waves arriving from below are detected. PZ summation thus attenuates receiver side water layer reverberations. Before summing the hydrophone and vertical geophone recordings the data must be properly calibrated. Three geophysical contractors were invited to apply their best PZ summation technology on a few common receiver gathers prepared by Statoil Research. The comparison allows a fair evaluation of each
