P005 ESTIMATING VP/VS FROM PRE-STACK CONVERTED- WAVE CORRELATION ANALYSIS MANUEL GONZALEZ Abstract 1 Multicomponent converted-wave PS processing and interpretation require quantitatively estimate the vertical ratio of P-wave velocity to S-wave velocity (Vp/Vs). Here I present a correlation technique to determine such ratio from PP and PS pre-stack data. This is achieved by reformulating the isotropic double-square root for PS-traveltimes in terms of PPtraveltimes and Vp/Vs. The procedure works on select PP events and it is reliable over a broad range of offsets. Synthetic data with flat and dipping multi-layers models are used to show the technique.
