Abstract
Through many various geological features, thickness estimation of thin layers is difficult for geoscience interpreters and they always try to solve this problem by using new and applicable methods. Spectral analysis can determine thin beds in seismic cube data appropriately. In fact, thin bed thickness can be predicted by frequency attributes, as spectral analysis methods, when the thin bed response has small interference effects from other layers. But spectral analysis displays in a single frequency view and for illustration of thickness distribution, we need to use an innovative and combinatory method. This paper, applied an applicable technique that combines and shows combinability three different frequencies by appropriating three main colors for each one of frequencies. This colored frequency stacking can shows different thicknesses and its changes as technique able to provide a good image from subtle layers for interpreters. Finally in application usage, we used reservoir part of a 3D seismic data from an oilfield in Strait of Hormuz to predict the thickness of its burial channels, because through real geological features, burial channels have good and suitable wedge shape to illustrate layer thickness variation.
