Abstract

E043 Removing Artifacts and Overburden Multiples from Virtual Source Data K. Mehta* (Colorado School of Mines) A. Bakulin (Shell International E & P) J. Sheiman (Shell International E & P) R. Snieder (Colorado School of Mines) SUMMARY Virtual source method has recently been proposed to image and monitor below complex and time- varying overburden without the knowledge of overburden velocities and near-surface changes. We demonstrate that up-down wave-field separation improves the quality of virtual source data. It allows us not only to eliminate artifacts associated with limited acquisition aperture but also reconstruct
