Abstract

Full wavefield migration (FWM) is an inversion technique which explains seismic data in terms of reflectivities in the subsurface. Primaries, surface and internal multiples are all taken into account without prior knowledge of reflector locations. As a full waveform inversion (FWI) approach the FWM algorithm consists of the three main components: forward modeling, obtaining the gradient (imaging) and matching the modeled wavefield with the measured one. In this paper we extend FWM such that duplex waves are used in order image steep geological structures.
