Abstract
Full waveform inversion (FWI) becomes more and more popular for characterizing oil and gas reservoirs, because it makes full use of dynamic and kinematic information. One of the key problems is to avoid local extreme values in FWI. To tackle the problem, we adopt the second generation wavelet transform to implement multi-scale time-domain FWI. In addition, by introducing the sign function and exponential threshold, we implement time-domain FWI using L1-norm rule. Synthetic data tests demonstrate that our inversion scheme can improve computational efficiency greatly and obtain satisfactory results using fewer shots.
