Abstract
Sampling of sources and receiver is at the core of any seismic survey design as the quality of seismic data, as well the cost of the survey, depend on this. Simultaneous shooting was used successfully for land acquisition to improve the source sampling and acquisition efficiency, and is fully accepted commercially. In this paper we look at the evolution of simultaneous shooting for land and marine acquisition and discuss a survey design for multivessel coil shooting that could improve the source sampling without additional source vessels.
