Abstract

The world’s largest optical Permanent Reservoir Monitoring (PRM) system was installed at Ekofisk in 2010. The system consists of nearly 4000 seabed multicomponent sensors, a top side recording unit installed on a platform and a containerized source operated on a supply vessel. After 3 years and 4 surveys, all the sensors are still active and very high repeatability (3-4% NRMS) has been achieved. This paper describes the different aspects and advantages of the project, including installation, data flow, acquisition and processing, discusses the quality of the data and how LoFS data are routinely used in well planning and reservoir management workflows.
