Abstract

Results from a sensitivity analysis concerning numerical simulation CO2 injection into a depleted gas reservoir are presented. Two numerical models are compared. One involves full coupling between the fluid flow and heat transport equations. The latter assumes fluid properties are constant with temperature. An important finding is that well pressure estimation is only weakly dependent on heat transport. Adequate numerical results concerning well pressure estimation can be obtained without heat transport coupling. It is further demonstrated that the pseudo-pressure and pseudo-time concepts associated with analytical solutions for gas production are also useful for considering CO2 injection in depleted gas reservoirs.
